Raw external hard disk error

It is not an expected thing to meet a raw external hard disk. We can not open the external hard disk, we can not access data saved on the external hard disk previously, and we can not save any new data on the external hard disk after it turning to raw.

We can format the raw external hard disk to use it, such as save new information on it. But the formatting action can not let us view those original files saved on the external hard disk, as they are erased after the formatting. Then could those lost files be retrieved? Actually, we can get them back from the external hard disk which is not formatted with data recovery software.

Step1. download and install the data recovery software on the computer.

Step2. connect the raw external hard disk to the exact computer.

Step3. run the data restoration tool on the computer and choose the recovery model and aim disk to scan.

Step4. wait some minutes and preview the contents in the list after the scan and then pick up the needed to recover.

Step5. select one of the computer hard disks as the location to store files to be retrieved.

step6. format the raw external hard disk and then convert the raw drive to NTFS FAT32 or any other normal file system.

Besides we can not open the external hard disk to view its data or save new information on it after it becoming raw, there are some other problems happen to the external hard disk, which is terrible, too. Here are some of them as follows:

1.      Both the free space and used space are 0 byte. It means that there is nothing on the external hard disk which is not formatted whether files have been saved on it or not previously.

2.      The chkdsk is not allowed. We can not perform chkdsk to the external hard disk when it is raw file system.

3.      Other similar problems. No matter what the situation is, we should retrieve what we need from the raw external hard disk with data recovery tool at first.
